Interrogation – preliminary
Lady Officer Charlie takes the four students to the room adjacent to the interrogation room so they can listen and watch the woman through the one-way mirror.
“Alright guys, it is important that you pay close attention to what is about to take place here this afternoon. It’s the only way for you to determine the validity of the charges you have brought to our knowledge. So sit tight” explains Officer Charlie, pulling a chair for herself.
Our four students feel intimidated, confused and not at all at ease staring at the one-way glass.
“She looks so normal but she is such a strange woman… I really wonder why she was doing what she was doing”, asks Kelly, breaking the silence.
Kelly, 19, is the only girl of the group. She’s the only child of a former cheerleader. Kelly’s mom does not understand her daughter’s fascination for Mathematics and Quantum Physics.
“I never really noticed her, she just seemed lost in her thoughts”, says Wong in response to Kelly.
Wong, 20, is a second generation Chinese-American young man, passionate about World History and Astrophysics.
“Lost in her thoughts? She has been staring at us every day for an hour for the past week! Are you kidding me? I tell you the word ‘creepy’ is an understatement in this case!” adds Jason.
Jason, 19, is a redhead boy whose family owns estates in northern parts of Florida but Jason prefers the eclectic diversity of South Florida. He tutors his fellow college mates in Chemistry and he is passionate about Geography and Arts in general.
“And that’s why we’re getting this restraining order! I don’t even understand why we have to give her any benefit of the doubt” completes Tony Jr., the most intransigent of all.
Tony Jr., 20, is an African-American young man who is paying his way through college without student loans but with the genius idea and bravery of teaching Mathematics to kids in afterschool programs and soon via an internet based interactive platform.
“Quiet now please!” orders Officer Charlie as the interrogation is about to start.
